The project “Technical assistance to SONADER” in Mauritania, funded by AFD, aims to improve food security by increasing irrigation in the Guidimakha and Gorgol wilayas—regions facing heightened food insecurity due to climate change and frequent food crises. Through support to the ASARIGG 1 & 2 projects, the technical assistance team helps SONADER strengthen its internal systems, water and infrastructure management, and advisory services. Activities include baseline studies, project management support, stakeholder consultation, and promoting agro-ecological intensification. The project also assists with monitoring, capacity building, and coordination, fostering a more resilient and productive agricultural landscape in Mauritania.
