Strengthening Mozambique’s TVET System Through Strategic Partnerships
GOPA has been implementing the GIZ-funded “Labour market orientation of national TVET and employment policies” project in Mozambique since 2023.
The project aims to strengthen the labour market orientation of the Mozambican TVET and employment system on political, strategic, and technical levels. It supports the development of the 10-Year TVET Strategy (2026-2035) in collaboration with UNESCO, ensuring the alignment of contributions from the government, private sector, and cooperation partners to enhance TVET and employment promotion.
A TVET Gender Strategy has been developed and implemented through a series of training for 225 participants. In renewable energy, a skills forecast informed the modernisation of training programmes. Public–private dialogue has been institutionalised, with various multi-stakeholder meetings held to date to improve alignment with labour market needs.
In February, GOPA Worldwide Consultants visited the GIZ project office in Maputo. During this period, our colleague and Project Team Leader Pedro Silva formally handed over his position to Simone Goncalves. Together, they engaged in productive discussions with both GOPA and GIZ teams, conducted the annual project planning workshop with GIZ, and also had the opportunity to enjoy the local cuisine.
