Strengthening Marine Ecosystem Connectivity in South Western Türkiye
A successful kick-off meeting of the EU-funded IPA III project “Restoring Marine Ecosystem Connectivity in South Western Türkiye through a Network of Marine Protected Areas, Enhancing Climate Change Resilience" took place recently.
Hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change of Türkiye, in collaboration with our dedicated on-site project team and our local project partner, IPCEU International Project Consultancy (IPC), the meeting was held on 17 December 2025 in Ankara.
The meeting brought together representatives of the EU Delegation to Türkiye, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Directorate for EU Affairs, the General Directorate for EU and Foreign Relations, the General Directorate for Protection of Natural Assets.
GOPA presented the project’s objectives, scope, result areas and expected outputs, along with the implementation and management structure, stakeholder roles, and the planned activities for 2026. Project visibility, communication, and reporting procedures were also discussed.
Funded by the European Union, the project aims to strengthen ecological connectivity between marine protected areas in South Western Türkiye, protect marine biodiversity, and enhance resilience to climate change, contributing to more effective marine protected area management and supporting Türkiye’s climate adaptation policies.
GOPA Worldwide Consultants, through its Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change team, looks forward to leading the implementation of this strategic initiative, working closely with national authorities, EU institutions, and our local partner IPC, as well as all relevant stakeholders.
