Strengthening REDD+ Finance in Brazil
The official launch of the project Action4Forests – Improving conditions for access to and implementation of REDD+ in Brazil took place at the end of January in Manaus with a meeting that brought together GOPA's key expert team, our consortium partner IDESAM, and our GOPA Worldwide Consultants' backstopper — marking a strong and collaborative start.
Implemented by GIZ in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the project aims to strengthen access to climate finance for forest protection, enhance inclusive REDD+ governance, and further position the Amazon Fund as a key actor in high-integrity carbon markets.
By supporting subnational governments, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC), and fund managers, Action4Forests contributes to Brazil’s commitment to halt deforestation by 2030 and to scale sustainable, equitable forest finance solutions.
GOPA is excited to embark on this journey and we look forward to collaborating with all partners to strengthen inclusive forest governance and effective climate finance in Brazil.
