Reinforcing Public Policy for Training and Employment in Guatemala
The EU-funded project “Strengthening and Consolidation of the National Labour Training System” (SINAFOL) in Guatemala has been successfully completed. This key initiative aimed to reinforce the country’s public policies on training and employment.
Over 32 months, GOPA provided expert support to strengthen SINAFOL, producing 39 technical outputs—all approved by the Ministry of Education. Notably, 25 professional qualifications were developed across 9 key economic sectors, with strong collaboration from public and private partners.
The project’s inclusive approach brought together nearly 1,000 participants in 95 workshops, with women making up over 60%—a significant step towards gender equality in workforce development. By engaging six government institutions, we helped lay the groundwork for sustainable governance and long-term success.
At the closing event, GOPA presented the comprehensive SINAFOL proposal to Guatemalan authorities, marking a major milestone towards a robust national labour training system. We remain committed to supporting institutional capacity and building opportunities for Guatemala’s workforce.
