EU Food Festival – Sharing Europe’s Flavours at Expo Osaka 2025
As part of the “Perfect Match” campaign and brought to life by GOPA, the EU Food Festival at Expo Osaka 2025 became a vibrant celebration of European food culture—connecting people in Japan with the stories, tastes, and traditions of the EU. Over six months, the festival created memorable experiences and lasting impressions, both at the EXPO and across the city of Osaka.
What is the campaign about?
The EU Food Festival was designed to introduce Japanese audiences—consumers and professionals alike—to the diversity, authenticity, and quality of European food and beverages. Through hands-on food and drinks tastings, interactive sessions, and creative storytelling, the campaign brought Europe’s culinary heritage directly to Osaka.
Bringing European Flavours to Osaka
From the lively food truck at the EXPO to the pop-up café at Tenshiba, Tennouji Park , the festival travelled across the city, inviting people to taste, learn, and discover. Thousands enjoyed authentic European recipes, participated in thematic sessions, and connected with the stories behind each product.
Interactive Experiences and Education
Visitors of all ages explored Europe’s food culture through cooking shows, interactive quizzes, and creative activities like rally stamp corners and colouring stations. Mascot Tane-Chan brought fun and energy, while over 553 EU products were showcased and more than 54,000 goodies distributed.
Digital and Media Impact
A dedicated communication campaign amplified the festival’s reach, with media, outdoor advertising, influencers, and a bespoke web section helping to share the message. The campaign reached over 770,000 people directly and millions more through media and influencers engagement.
Storytelling and Policy Dialogue
A highlight was the EU High-Level Policy event: “Sustainable and Innovative Agriculture: Perspective from the EU” on 12 June in the EXPO. This brought together the EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, Japanese officials, and European business delegates fostering meaningful dialogue and professional connections at EXPO Osaka.
