The challenge

Growing cities in Uzbekistan need safer drinking water, adequate sanitation and stronger institutional capacity to plan and manage sustainable urban services. Uzbekistan's urban-services study defines practical improvements in water supply, wastewater and related municipal infrastructure. It seeks to establish investment priorities that respond to real system needs, meet environmental and social requirements and can be managed by capable institutions over the long term.

Our approach

Project-management arrangements coordinate assessments across participating locations. Water and wastewater systems are reviewed alongside site surveys, revealing current conditions and service gaps. Investment planning and design criteria translate those findings into potential interventions. Environmental and social analysis tests their implications, while institutional development addresses the organisations that would later operate and oversee them.
