Technical backstopping in Fostering effective partnerships for fair migration for trainees and skilled workers

The project creates concrete opportunities for fair, regular migration for trainees and skilled workers, while it establishes partnerships between vocational training centres in the cooperating countries and with companies in Germany.

Labour migration needs to be safe, regular, controlled, and development-driven. Strong partnerships have been agreed upon between Germany and selected cooperation countries for gender-based, development-driven vocational training and labour migration. Cooperation benefits include that young school leavers and prospective migrants have better job prospects on local and international labour markets, while German companies gain better access to skilled workers and trainees, helping to relieve tensions in labour markets on both sides.

GOPA supports the establishment, promotion and monitoring of partnerships with actors from the private sector, from statal institutions and from civil society. GOPA builds capacities of these actors and helps to collect data to establish evidence on best practices regarding regional concepts and agreements. Cooperating countries are currently Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Indonesia, Ghana, Nigeria, Gambia, Albania, Kosovo and Serbia.
