Flagship project
External Technical On-Site Assistance in IPA III Beneficiaries, Southern and Eastern Neighbourhood Countries
GOPA provides civil protection technical support to DG ECHO and contributes to the implementation of different civil protection cooperation programmes and to enhancing their regional impact. The project assists where national authorities, participants and stakeholders meet obstacles and difficulties.
GOPA engages specifically in building capacities of the partner countries’ respective civil protection institutions for disaster risk prevention, preparedness and response, based on a multi-hazard approach and on interactions with the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM). The project strengthens technical cooperation at regional level between governmental actors, civil society stakeholders and the scientific community, promoting an inclusive approach to prevention, preparedness and response to natural and man-made disasters.
It also enhances technical and operational regional cooperation of institutions in the Southern and the Eastern Neighbourhood countries and IPA III beneficiaries regarding the UCPM. GOPA provides tailored on-site assistance organising interactive events, workshops, exchanges of experts, and trainings, contributing to enhanced communication and cooperation as well as knowledge transfer among relevant institutions and stakeholders.
