Previously, from 2014 to 2024, he was Managing Director of GOPA Intec, leading the Renewable/Sustainable Energy part of Intec's business.  Before joining Intec, Andreas spent 18 years in the technical consultancy business with a leading German consulting firm. He began in 1994 as a Ph.D. engineer, studying and designing wind, solar, and other renewable energy resources and the respective RE technology plants, and in 2000 he was appointed head of a renewable energy department. In his last position before joining Intec, he was responsible for the business development across an entire energy division. Andreas has extensive experience in the project management and direction of renewable energy technology projects for IFIs such as the World Bank, KfW, ADB, EBRD, GIZ, and IFC, as well as experience in privately financed renewable energy projects (RE IPPs). He has lectured on renewable energy and electricity economics for over 8 years and authored more than 200 publications on renewable energy. Even though most of us are personally and professionally engaged in the energy transition nowadays, Andreas has been an expert on this matter even before governments, politicians, and the overall society shifted their attention toward it. He has a comprehensive understanding of the energy sector, its functioning, its interrelations, and its impact on the environment and our society.

Dr. Andreas Wiese holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, and an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. In addition to his industrial career, he has lectured on various renewable energy economics-related subjects at the Technical University of Hamburg since 2009 and was awarded an Honorary Professorship at the Technical University of Hamburg in 2018.
