Expert (with international experience): Traceability and international certification (Designation of Origin)

About the job

The objective of the GIZ SUAGRI Programme is: To improve the political, technical, and financial conditions for scaling up sustainable soil management and the restoration of biodiversity in the Altiplano region.

What you will do

• Adjustment of the technical quality regulation for the Designation of Origin (DO).
• Advisory support in the development of the traceability system for the Royal Quinoa value chain - e.g. the open-source INATRACE system. Any programming activity or adaptation of existing software is expressly excluded from this concept.
• Advisory support in the design and establishment of the Royal Quinoa information platform. Any programming activity or adaptation of existing software is expressly excluded from this concept.
• Guidance for the recognition/equivalence of the Royal Quinoa Designation of Origin before the European Commission/EU, the USA, and Canada.
• Support for the positioning and visibility of Royal Quinoa products and by-products from the Southern Altiplano with “Designation of Origin” in the European market.

Your qualifications

• University degree in Agricultural Engineering, Commercial Engineering, or Economics, with postgraduate studies in Business Administration (MBA), international trade, or agricultural supply chains.
• Spanish language skills at C2 level (7 out of 10 points) and English language skills at C1 level (3 out of 10 points) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
• 10 years of professional experience in strengthening agricultural supply chains (5 out of 10 points).
• 6 years of professional experience in the regulatory framework for international trade, with an emphasis on the recognition/equivalence of Designation of Origin (EU), traceability systems for agricultural value chains for organic certification - e.g. open-source INATRACE - and the positioning of Andean agrobiodiversity in European Union markets (5 out of 10 points).
• 6 years of professional experience in marketing Andean-Amazonian agrobiodiversity products at EU level and in free-trade markets (4 out of 10 points).
• 24 months of experience in organic product certification projects in the EU; international positioning of Andean-Amazonian agrobiodiversity products and by-products within the last 5 years (4 out of 10 points).
• Experience in recognition processes for the Designation of Origin of biodiversity products at EU level and in international markets (2 out of 10 points).
• 5 years of experience in managing projects, agricultural enterprises, or agricultural regulatory organizations, with line-management responsibility for 5 people and annual budget responsibility of at least EUR 1,000,000.
• 4 years of professional experience in the following countries of the LAC region: Peru - 2 years (3 out of 10 points) Colombia - 2 years (2 out of 10 points) Ecuador - 2 years (2 out of 10 points) Chile - 2 years (2 out of 10 points)
• 3 years of professional experience in the context of agricultural value chains in Bolivia.
• 5 years of experience in development cooperation projects.
